Where We've Been

"Walking in the spirit of their youth, while reacting in the wisdom of their years." This is the motto that God has given the Young at Heart Choir as we travel from place to place singing God's praises and sharing His love through music and fellowship with people of all ages.

This unique choral group began as a local church senior gospel choir with eighteen men and women at their first rehearsal. As it added performances outside the church, other seniors expressed a desire to join. After much prayer, the decision was made to open this ministry to all "Bible believing" seniors in the community. As a community choir, doors began to open to perform at other Bible based churches throughout the Albuquerque area and beyond. The choir has since grown to a dedicated force of over 100, ranging in age from 55-97. The average age of it's members is 72.

No matter how many attend a concert, no group is too small for us to minister to. Many times our fifty to sixty voice ensemble has performed for audiences of twenty to thirty, and the Lord has touched hearts and lives. It is so wonderful to see God touch souls, even if it is just one.

A key component of our ministry is to take the gospel to other senior adults, especially to those in retirement homes, senior centers, nursing homes and assisted living centers. However, we want to take the gospel to unbelievers of all ages and also encourage and strengthen the faith of those who know Him. We want our active testimony to move other seniors to active service for Him. We also want our ministry to touch and move the younger generations, encouraging them with our music and testimonies of God's goodness and joy.

The choir wants to continue to take our message into local churches, not only to proclaim the gospel, but also to convey the truth that seniors should never "retire" from serving the Lord. There is still a place for them. You're never to old to serve the Lord!

This is not your average "old folks" choir. Young at Heart concerts are an exciting mix of novelty numbers, humor, testimonies, inspirational hymns and special music arrangements which can touch the heart and lift the spirit.

The Young at Heart choir is a non-profit organization. Our operating budget is met through donations from choir members, friends and relatives. God has continually blessed this ministry with pledges and gifts of support, to help with the touring and recording expenses.
